Im Jane Hutch as many of you know I have been in a wheelchair for over 9 years after an accident left me with a spinal cord injury. I think of it as a slight setback, It however hasn't stopped me from doing any of the things I love, one of those things being dancing.
Now you might be asking how is this related to dancing? Well to help fundraise for my upcoming competition I will be abseiling down the QV1 Tower standing at 38 stories (163 meters) it's one of Perth's tallest buildings.
I will be doing this to raise money for my upcoming para dance competition in Melbourne 2019. As a para dancer I am faced with various out of pocket expenses such as costumes, registration, training, competition entry fees and travel.
This will be only the second competition of its kind in Australia. Para dance is a Paralympic sport with World Championships. Although there are 34 countries that compete in these world championships, Australia has never had a representative. The goal is to change this through the Para-sport pathway by developing my skills through local and national competitions with an eye on future international representation.
